Wildwood Academy is a child-centered, nature-inspired school rooted in the Reggio Emilia approach, where children are seen as capable, curious, and full of potential.

Hands-On Science & Engineering Guide

Wildwood Academy

Wildwood Academy is looking for a creative, curious, and hands-on Science & Engineering Guide to lead engaging STEM experiences for children during the 2026–2027 school year.

This is a part-time position for someone who loves helping children explore the world through building, experimenting, wondering, testing, and problem-solving.

Position Details

Schedule: Fridays during the school year (August–May)

  • 10:30–11:25 AM: Grades 2–3 (approximately 8 students)

  • 11:25–11:30 AM: Passing period

  • 11:30 AM–12:25 PM: Grades 4–5 (approximately 8 students)

  • 12:25–12:30 PM: Clean up

Students: Approximately 8 students per group

Compensation: $80–$100 per hour, depending on experience.

The Program

The Science & Engineering Guide will lead five six-week, project-based STEM units throughout the school year. Units may include:

  • Earth Science

  • Engineering Design

  • Physics & Motion

  • Robotics

  • Chemistry

The same unit theme will be taught to both groups, with activities adapted to each age level. Lessons should be hands-on, inquiry-driven, and encourage children to build, test, revise, and solve real-world problems.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Enjoys working with children

  • Has a background in science, engineering, robotics, or STEM education

  • Makes science engaging and accessible

  • Is creative, organized, and collaborative

  • Is confident leading experiments and engineering challenges

  • Believes children learn best through exploration, inquiry, and hands-on experiences

The ideal candidate may be a science teacher, engineer, museum educator, robotics coach, graduate student, retired STEM professional, or someone with experience in project-based science education.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach weekly STEM lessons

  • Design five six-week units throughout the school year

  • Create engaging, age-appropriate investigations and engineering challenges

  • Prepare materials for each week's activities

  • Foster curiosity, teamwork, creativity, and problem solving

Woodshop Guide

Wildwood Academy is looking for a creative and hands-on Woodshop Guide to inspire young builders during the 2026–2027 school year.

Students will learn to safely use basic woodworking tools while designing and building projects that serve our school community. This is a collaborative, project-based class where children and the instructor work together to bring ideas to life.

Position Details

Schedule: Fridays during the school year (August–May)

  • 10:30–11:25 AM: Grades 2–3 (approximately 8 students)

  • 11:25–11:30 AM: Passing period

  • 11:30 AM–12:25 PM: Grades 4–5 (approximately 8 students)

  • Garden fences and trellises

  • Raised garden beds

  • Benches

  • Treehouse additions

  • Has woodworking, carpentry, or construction experience

  • Loves building alongside children

  • Believes children are capable of doing real, meaningful work

🎶 Voice Teacher Wanted at Wildwood Academy! 🎶

We're looking for a joyful, engaging voice teacher to join our enrichment program for the 2026–2027 school year.

This is not a formal choir program—we're looking for someone who loves making music with children and can create a fun, confidence-building experience through singing together.

Friday Afternoons from about 1:00-3:00pm.

Compensation: $50–$80 per hour, depending on experience.

Ideal candidates would:
🎸 Play guitar or bring a keyboard to accompany singing
🎵 Teach simple harmonies, rhythms, and musical concepts
🌎 Introduce children to a variety of songs and musical styles
😊 Create a warm, encouraging atmosphere where children can experience the joy of using their voices

We envision children singing together, learning rounds and harmonies, exploring rhythm, and being exposed to songs from different cultures, time periods, and traditions—all while having fun.

Classes are small (approximately 10 students per group) and include elementary-aged children.
